Appalam urulai kizhangu Kootu/ Potato papadam recipe makes a delicious and flavorful side dish for rice that is made using Potatoes,bengal gram and papadam. The flavor is simply amazing and its pretty easy to cook also. This recipe will be one of the most lip smacking recipe that you can make with potatoes.

Potato is certainly a versatile vegetable. it fits in anywhere and everywhere like the all-in-one daughter-in-law of mother-in-law’s choice!  Papadam is crisp and typically based on a seasoned dough , so when its soaked in potato kootu with bengal gram it will give you the delicious taste. 

You can have dish as a evening snack or it will go well with steamed rice. My choice will be having with vatha kulambu and rice.



Ingredients :

Potatoes : 3 nos chopped in bigger size
Bengal gram : 150gms
Papad/Appalam : 10nos
Mustard seeds - Half tsp
Fennel seeds - 1 tsp
Coconut- 50gms
Vegetable oil- 3tsp
Curry leaves : 10nos
Chilli powder - 3tsp
Turmeric powder- half tsp
Salt per taste

Methods :

In a pressure cooker add chopped potato, bengal gram dhal , 2 cups of water, chili powder, turmeric powder, salt and close the lid and cook it for 5 whistles.




Add oil in pan sparkle mustard seeds, curry leaves and fry the papads/ appalam


After pressure goes down in the pressure cooker open the lid and add the fried papads with mustards mix well all the mixture. Let it cook for 5 mins


Grind coconut and the fennel seeds to a rough consitancy
 Add it to the above mixture, mix well, let it cook for 2 to 3 mins and switch of the flame


Your tasty kootu is ready now.

Indian Style Macaroni Pasta Recipe for Kids Lunch Box

Pasta or Macaroni Cooked in Onion-Tomato Sauce, Indian style, a little tangy and spicy. You can Load with more veggies, makes this a perfect healthy lunch for your kid. Not only as a lunch special recipe, this is a perfect dish to make in the evenings when you wish to snack on.








Ingredients:



Pasta/Marconi 150gms

Onions 2 nos

Tomatoes 2nos

Capsicum 1 medium size

Dry red chili 10 nos

Curry leaves

Chopped garlic 3tsp

Salt per taste

Red chili powder 1tsp

Soya sauce 1/2 tsp

Tomato ketchup 2tsp

Grated cheese as per taste

Vegetable oil (Olive oil is more suited)



Methods:


Heat water in a pan. Add little salt and little oil along with water. When the water starts 
boiling, add the pasta and cook al dente. Drain excess water and keep aside.



Roughly grind the Tomato and set aside and Finely chop the onions & capsicum 



Heat oil in a pan. Add onions,capsicum, curry leaves , chopped garlic, red chili and sauté till get fried nicely without raw smell.


Add red chili powder, salt and mix well.


Then add grinded tomato, stir and sauté till the tomatoes is mixed well and raw smell is gone



Add soya sauce and tomato ketchup mix well, then add the boiled pasta sauté well for 2 to 3mins



Add cheese (for people who doesn’t like cheese can skip this step) mix it well for two mins till its spread evenly.



Now your Indian Style Pasta is ready, Serve it hot
